Deja Vu?
So with little else to do this evening while recovering from a day of being under the weather, I read FDR’s famous speech from 1933. March 1933. Where upon he delcares that we have to nothing to fear, but fear itself.
Perhaps equally notably is a few paragraphs below that when FDR says and I quote “Finally, in our progress toward a resumption of work we require two safeguards against a return of the evils of the old order; there must be a strict supervision of all banking and credits and investments; there must be an end to speculation with other people’s money, and there must be provision for an adequate but sound currency.”.
Huh? Strict regulations of all banking and credits and investments? That was 1933. 67 YEARS AGO!!! Talking about the EXACT SAME THING!!!! Wtf? Have we learned nothing or what we have tried to do since then didn’t or hasn’t worked in the long run??
It makes me wonder how much we actually know about our own history or even how we can begin to understand the cohesinvess functioning of the Government. I don’t know about you, but I haven’t gotten a clue? Math and Science were promoted as ‘important’. Perhaps there is a valid need for the recommended appreciation of a working timeline of US historical events in laymans terms. Kind of like a brief summary of Amerrican history in pictures from conception to now.
